For those of you who love animals, and there have been research studies that prove pets can be very therapeutic , there is a wonderful 'No Kill', 'No Cage' adoption facility in California, run by Lynea Lattanzio. Called The Cat House On The Kings, Lynea has approximately 700 cats (and some dogs) at any one time. This non-profit organization runs entirely on donations, and even if you can't adopt, you can donate or sponsor a cat.
Way too many cats are abandoned and left to wander, or are in shelters waiting for adoption or to be put down, because of irresponsible owners. If you are looking to adopt, this is a place you might consider. But adopt responsibly.
